Groups powers choice-driven giveaways with Swag Pro

How a national addiction-recovery provider turned employee gifting and member milestone coins into a self-service experience

About Groups

Groups is a leading healthcare provider focused on supporting individuals through addiction recovery across the country. Across employees, care teams, and members, their programs center on one principle: progress should feel personal, not operational. As gifting grew from employee recognition to member milestone programs, so did the work of delivering swag thoughtfully at scale. The question became how to create personalized experiences for thousands of people without adding manual work for the team.

A swag approach centered on choice, recognition, and flexibility

Groups does not treat swag as a one-size-fits-all distribution. Their programs prioritize choice (recipients select what they actually want), recognition (swag tied to meaningful moments in recovery), and flexibility (people choose where and whether items are delivered). The approach spans two audiences: employees, for gifting, recognition, and internal campaigns, and members, for milestone-based recovery programs.

Executing this by hand would be nearly impossible at scale, according to marketing manager Meghan Haddad. “Previously, our care team would have to mail out items one-by-one, so our goal was reducing the burden on them,” she explains.

Replacing manual gifting with self-service experiences

Before Swag Pro, employee gifting meant collecting addresses and managing size and item preferences by hand. Now Groups uses giveaway links to turn gifting into a self-service experience: with a link to a simple landing page, recipients browse the available swag, pick their items and sizes, and enter their own shipping details.

Recipients can choose what they actually want, opt out entirely, or ship items wherever they are, which matters for a remote workforce. “It really gives people the agency to choose—or not choose—and that’s been huge for us,” Meghan says. “We don’t have to collect sizes or mailing addresses, so it prevents back-and-forth questions.”

A modern milestone program for members

One of Groups’ most impactful use cases is its milestone coin program, which celebrates member progress in recovery. Coins used to ship to local offices, and care teams mailed them individually. With Swag Pro the program became an automated, opt-in model: milestones are flagged in the CRM, members receive a giveaway link tied to their achievement, those who opt in enter their shipping details, and Swag Pro handles fulfillment and tracking.

That solves for both efficiency and sensitivity in a healthcare setting. “Sometimes people don’t want recovery coins shipped to their homes, so this lets them choose a preferred address or decline altogether,” Meghan says.

More than a tool: a partner behind the scenes

Giveaway links power the front end; a dedicated account manager and merch manager support the program’s execution, from sourcing custom items like the milestone coins to vendor coordination, sampling, design and production guidance, and campaign setup.

“Our [merch manager] handled it all from doing research to helping us narrow down options to ensuring our designers had the right print specs,” Meghan says. “She even took it a step further in helping us organize different versions of design assets.”

The results

Groups shifted from hands-on distribution to an automated experience that delivers both efficiency and impact without sacrificing personalization.

  • Employees and members choose what matters to them
  • Recognition is tied to meaningful moments
  • Operations run in the background, not on the team’s shoulders
