Currently there is no hard limit on the number of stores each account can contain. However, to maximize your profit potential we recommend splitting your existing store into multiple sections instead of opening a new store. This technique maximizes the cross-selling and up-selling capabilities of your existing customer base.
For example, instead of creating a separate store for "dogs" and "cats", create one store for "pets" and split the store into multiple sections. One section could feature "dog" designs while the other features "cat" designs. Shoppers interested in dog designs might also purchase cat related designs if they can easily find them. If you were to use two separate stores there would be no easy way for dog shoppers to find your cat designs. There is no limit on the number of sections inside a store.
