How does the quality compare to traditional screen printing (for apparel products)?

For all apparel products we utilize a brand new digital printing technology that applies the ink directly from a digital printing machine onto the fabric. The ink utilized in this process is much softer and more durable than the plastic-like inks used in screen printing. This means you can hardly even feel the ink on the shirt and there is no cracking of the design even after repeated washings. The printing fades less than any other printing method on the market. What type of images/designs can I upload?

We accept JPEG, JPG, PNG, GIF, and BMP image formats. We recommend the PNG, JPEG, or JPG format for best results. Almost all digital cameras and photo editing programs can save your image in one of these formats.

If you plan on designing dark-colored apparel and want to use the same design you should upload transparent PNG files. Transparent PNG files are the only format that will always work well on both dark and light colored clothing. JPG and JPEG files will work too, however any white space in your image will print as white, often leaving an undesirable white square around your image. What if I want to buy multiple colors of the same product? Do I have to go through the designer once for each color?

No! The color you choose before you click the "design now" button will be used during the design process but you will be able to see your design on all available colors during the review process. On the review page you can add different colors and sizes to your shopping cart.

Purchasing multiple colors or sizes does not affect bulk discounts! Your order will still be eligible for the largest discount applicable to the total quantity purchased.

How do I add text to my picture or design?

At this time you need to add text to your image before you upload it to our servers. Most image editing software allows you to easily add text to an existing photograph or design. Many digital cameras and scanners come with free image editing software. If you don't have any editing software loaded on your computer you can see this list of free image editing software available for download.

In the near future we plan on adding the ability to add text to your image directly in our image workshop application.

Why does my image look so small on the product?

The size your image appears on the product depends on the size and quality of the original image you upload. In order to print the image clearly we cannot simply enlarge your image to fit onto the product. We automatically make your image as large as we can while maintaining the quality. If you want your image to look bigger you will need to upload a new version of your image that is bigger. Images saved from websites usually appear small on our products because our printing process requires a higher quality (bigger) image than is required to show the image on your computer screen. This is not unique to Printfection.com; all printing companies face these same limitations.

How do I get rid of the white space around my image on cork-bottom coasters, cutting boards, and mouse pads?

At this time you need to make sure the image you are uploading has the same width/height ratio as the product you are trying to customize. For example, our cork-bottom coasters are 4" x 4" square so you need to upload a square image if you do not want any white space to show. It may be easier to simply download a product template and then use image-editing software to prepare your image for upload.

In the near future we plan on developing an easier way to remove the white space directly in our image workshop.
