Many animals are facing extinction for a variety of reasons, loss of habitat,poaching,war,reasons man made. Surely whatever forces put humankind on the planet also put animals here. 10% of annual proceeds will go to World Wildlife Fund.

Black Rhino
|
|
The Black Rhino inhabits central and east Africa. The Black Rhino is most easily distinguished from the White Rhino by the shape of it's top lip which is pointed. Adult males can be as much as 3,000 pounds and 10 feet long! The black Rhino is endangered.

Silverback

|
The Silverback is a large male gorilla. All gorillas in the wild are endangered in large part due to poaching. Silverbacks can reach 500 lbs. Gorillas and humans share 97 - 98% of DNA.

Puffins
|
|
Three Puffins keep a keene eye on the water for their seafood dinner. The female lays a single egg and both parents incubate the nest. Puffins can hold up to a dozen fish in their beaks.

Manatee
|
|
Manatees have few natural predators but are endangered due to living in close approximation to man. Many Manatees are killed or injured by boat propellers. Manatees can live to sixty years if lucky.

Giraffe
|
|
The Giraffe is the tallest land animal. Giraffes have seven virtibrae in their necks, as do we!
Giraffes have a particular fondness for acacia leaves. Tallest Giraffe on record: 19.5 feet.

Loggerhead

Loggerheads are on the endangered species list. They often wind up in fishing nets, or are killed by boat propellers. Loggerheads can live to 50 years.

Loon

The Loon or Diver, is a medium sized water bird. Loons pair bond for life and dive into the water to spear their prey with their beaks.

African Elephant

African Elephants are still extremely endangered because of poaching. Elephants are the largest land animals alive today. Gestation takes 22 months.

Orangutan

Orangutans in the wild are critically endangered. Currently, Orangutans can only be found in Sumatra and Borneo. Orangutans are extremely intelligent, and eat sweet fruits, like figs.

The male Lion can reach 600 lbs in the wild and is second in size only to the tiger. The Lion is classified as vulnerable to extinction. Most Lions live in southern and eastern Africa.

Panda

The Giant Panda is classified as an endangered animal. It is estimated that there are approximately 2000 Pandas alive in the world.

Dragonfly

Viewed as something sinister in ancient European mythology, the Dragonfly is identified as a symbol of courage, strength and happiness by the Japanese. In any case Dragonflies eat mosquitos.

Monarch

The Monarch Butterfly has a lifespan of about 8 weeks. It is one of the few insects capable of oceanic migration. Numbers are in deline due to deforestation.

Lemur

All sub-species of Lemurs are endangered due to de-forestization and to a lesser extent hunting. Lemurs are naturally found in Madagascar and the island of Comoros.
